India Needs Our Help
You may have heard of India in the news recently, as we all know the COVID pandemic isn't over, new strains of the virus and second waves of infection loom just around the corner, waiting for us to lower our guard.
That's exactly what happened to India, COVID second wave has been deadly to big cities like Mumbai and Delhi, India has now has reported more than 18.3 million Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began, the second-highest number in the world behind the United States, and has also set a global record for daily new cases for seven of the past eight days.
Its hard to keep over 1 billion people confined in their houses, and with that population numbers it is even harder to get a vaccine for all of them, that's why the second wave has been deadlier than the first one, people start to lower their guard as they grow tired of staying at home and being extra cautious, so that's why this should serve as a cautionary the for all of us, COVID hasn't been defeated and we ought to keep taking precautions even if already vaccinated.
Hospitals in India have run out of space, crematoriums and funeral homes are even more packed, according to the New York Times, officially, by the beginning of May, more than 19.3 million infections had been confirmed and more than 219,000 people were dead, but experts said the actual figures were most likely much higher. In the same period, India was responsible for more than half of the world’s daily Covid-19 cases, setting a record-breaking pace of more than 300,000 a day.
